    A Workplace is an unusual place in definite ways, we get to meet people with whom we have not been acquainted earlier. The present-day working environment and work-related pressures are augmenting at every organization due to the competitive working environment and the principle of performance or perish. Considering the amount of time people commit to their job, they need to enjoy the workplace in a way to reduce stress rather than staying frustrated, toxic, and negative. Stress is a double-edged instrument that works out on both positive and negative dimensions. It is the primitive element encountered by every working individual at workplaces.

    The factors related to the commencement of occupational stress are inconsistent and routine which depends on the work’s nature, the pattern of work, relationship with people at the workplace, and the demand of the work. The level of intolerance and low ambiguity of working individuals towards work convert occupational stress to burnout at workplaces. The pressure is always there as people must experience challenges within their lives which help in pushing themselves to feel motivated.

    In the developed countries high level of stress is said to be a considerable problem. Much of this stress has been linked to work and employment. Modernization, urbanization, globalization, and liberalization result in stiff competition leads to an increased level of stress in individuals. In the current state of the economy, the stress in the workplace is an area of increasing concern, the individuals tend to face the problem of work overload, insecurity of job and low levels of job satisfaction, and lack of autonomy. There have been shreds of evidence of some detrimental effects of workplace stress on the well-being and health of the employees. Also, it is seen that it leads to a negative impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of working in an organization further causing loss of profits to the organization. A WHO (World Health Organization) conference on the gender disparities in mental health stated that just like the gender of the person influence the social position of an individual, in the same way, it also determines how it affects both the genders and what are the gender base reactions of the same. In today's modern world occupational stress is regarded as one of the critical health issues.

    But how many of us can say we have mental peace at work? A certain level of an increase in pressure is acceptable and can improve performance and the quality of life. The source of facing stress and methods of managing it towards positive and negative consequences highly depends upon the individuals who are facing it. People use workplace gossip as a part of entertainment or venting out their frustrations to co-workers. Sometimes, giving silent treatments to colleagues make them feel ignored and neglected. It always feels as if they are being judged. This can cause stress in the long run as it strains a relationship with colleagues. Tension is also built when a team member displays a bad attitude. They are more focused on completing and promoting their work. It leads to poor team efficiency and drags the productivity and performance of fellow members as well. The longer it goes, the worse it becomes in terms of the behavior of the team members and as a result, individuals become frustrated which gives birth to unnecessary conflicts among the team.

    An individual needs to be part of group activities, team meetings, and more. One should emphasize appreciating others, offering support, and be a good listener. Have an open and transparent conversation to build a better relationship with colleagues. One should practice meditation for a calm and peaceful mind. It will help in avoid responses like anger and frustration. This will help in complete focus on the task. Have an attitude of gratitude. Be grateful for what you have and stop complaining about the problems. Don’t just get frustrated because someone else in your team got promoted. Remember “satisfaction is not always what you want; it is the realization of how blessed you are for what you have”. It is important to be part of group activities, team meetings, and more. Emphasis on appreciating others, offering support, and be a good listener. Employees should focus on maintaining transparent and better relationships with colleagues. Practicing meditation will help in maintaining peace of mind and calmness, thus avoiding frustrated responses which further will aid in maintaining complete focus on the task.
